Description
This piece was written in March to April 2012 for the Wessel Ensemble, made up
of members of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra - Jenny Hutchinson ( flute) ,
Martin Clark (violin) , Fiona Petersen (viola) and Melissa Edwards (cello) who gave
the first per formance of my Quartetto Accademico [B158] . Thereafter I wrote two
other pieces for them, and after a concert in March 2012 including quartets by
Mozart and Hoffmeister, I thought that my mock-Classical Sonatina for
harpsichord [B132] would also arrange well for this combination of instruments.
There are four movements, the first and last using early Classical sonata form.
It may be summed up as a look through modern eyes at the Classical world of
Scarlatti (Domenico) , Mozart (Leopold) and Bach (P.D.Q.) !
1. Allegro
2. Adagio semplice ma satirico
3. Tempo di menuetto
4. Allegro ma non troppo
