Description
This work was written in a period of a few days in December 1989 while the composer observed the downfall of the Ceaucescu dictatorship on the television news bulletins.

The kaleidoscopic appearances of the folk melodies reflect the differing ethnic strands of Romanian folk music, which combine towards the end in a fiercely discordant clash which then resolves into a simple theme based on a folk melody welcoming the re-appearance of flowers after the winter.
This is the third of a series of folk-dance based suites based on the music of the former "Iron Curtain" countries.
