Description
1. Andante
2. Allegro
This piece is made up of the first two movements (in reverse order) of the composer’s Flute Sonata [B16], which was written in 1985 for Catherine Pinion. The composer was never satisfied with the last movement as it did not balance the other two movements and has therefore omitted it from publication, preferring the two balanced movements to stand alone. They may be seen as an andante introduction to a sonata form allegro and should be played with a very short break between the movements.
The sound sample is a performance of the first movement.
