descripção
This work was begun in late 2003 and was completed in early January 2004 as a belated thank you to Ronald Frost who recorded the composer's complete organ music on compact disc. [New Century Classics NCC2002]
There are four short movements. The first and last are structured in the style of Scarlatti, with both halves to be repeated. They are both fast movements using Scarlatti-style figures mixed with modern harmonies. The second, slow, movement and the third, a minuet and trio are both more satirical and poke fun at the forms of the mid-eighteenth century with some deliberately banal melodies. Later revised for flute and string trio, it was described as being a mixture of the styles of Mozart (Leopold), Scarlatti (Domenico) and Bach (PDQ). Enjoy!
